Tracy Mercier: An Exceptional, Tech-Savvy Teacher

For ten years, thoughtful third-grade teacher Tracy Mercier has inspired a love of learning. She explains, “I believe that all children want to learn. It is our responsibility as teachers to discover that which makes them want to learn.”

In return, students have given her “too many laughs to count” assuring Tracy that, despite her back pain, “you’re not old until you turn 40.” They moved her to tears with a soulful performance of “Don’t Laugh at Me.”

Tracy helps children “claim their voice” and share it through writing, pictures and multi-media avenues. Her use of Smilebox is a shining example: Tracy encourages her students to use Smilebox for their school projects; in addition, she sent invites to the state’s Tech Expo, where her students will be recognized, and newsletters highlighting the class Facebook page and technology fair.
